Would I be considered a hacker????
I've always wondered if I would be considered a hacker because I jail-broke my iPhone and made my computer have vista, mac, and linux (all three yes). What would you really consider a hacker??? Like when people "hack" into anything (bank accounts, user names, The Pentagon, etc.), would they be considered "hacking" or would they be considered as smart and able to find someone elses mistakes (back-doors, keys, etc). I mean, I could say that I'm just smart enough to change some things on my phone where I'm able to add themes and change the font and all that....and that I'm able to get all three OS systems on my computer by partitioning them together. I mean hack seems harsh when people say that. Also, I think when people use limewire and "hack" music, I say that they are just borrowing the music so they can show other people what other types of music there is out there....sooner or later that person (that made the music) could become famous from that "hack". I mean look at how music has evolved because of "hackers", I think that hackers are a key part to our society. I know even the government has hackers but I always wondered if those hackers have ever used there powers for personal use....and where they can get away with it, because they know every type of firewall and back door that the military has. I mean bet one hacker could bribe his friends (other hackers) and they could form up and send missiles anywhere they want. I mean yeah they do sit in front of a computer all day but they have some powerful stuff in their hands. To go back to my topic question...I bet I would be considered a low-class hacker because I'm not into hacking anything major, just whatever makes me happy. I also love it that people think it's bad to "hack". While they were working on their cars and what not, there were people fighting to make sure that john (example) had his daily dose of porn and his daily farmville updates. I mean there are people that protect computers all over the world. If no one protected the computers and all that jazz, then I bet right now there would be people firing missiles at everyone else because they had the power to do so. I think that we (the U.S.) are based on the terms of that "we push other people around physically to prove that we have the balls to kick anyone's ass and that we never needed computers to help anyone because our society is lazy". Well I understand the lazy part (which i am far from lazy) but there are some good things that came from inventing the computer, such as internet and easier business handling and communicating with other countries. This could go on back and forth about hacking is good or bad but my vote is that hacking is good when used for a logical reason....and that I think I would be considered a hacker. Well i'll see everyone bright and early tomorrow....night peeps

Well, seeing as you never thought of the way to jailbreak your phone, and it's just partitioning your harddrive, and custom installing operating systems onto it, and set it up to dual boot, I don't consider you to be a hacker. The people who actually hack through encrypted systems, bypass firewalls, ect to get to secure information, such as goverment, bank, credit info, ect would be considered hackers to me. The people checking out youtube to watch and follow steps to modify their phones, ect aren't hackers in my point of view. Granted, I must say, we have both spent some time going through program codes to disable trial restrictions, ect, but what are you gonna do? lol
